First French Delegation to Showcase Waste Management Innovations at ESS

London, 3rd July 2024: Business France is pleased to announce the launch of its first French delegation at this year's Environmental Services & Technology Solutions Expo (ESS). As part of a trade mission, a group of 8 French waste management solutions specialists will bring their expertise to the UK trade show dedicated to the latest innovations and solutions in the fields of circular economy, net-zero emissions, sustainability, and biodiversity conservation.

“With a shared commitment to a greener and more ecologically balanced planet, France-UK partnerships are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of waste management services.” said Lucie Lucas, Trade Development Adviser for Energy & the Environment. "We are looking forward to bringing an exciting selection of French companies to ESS to strengthen existing ties in the sector and opening up exciting possibilities for future collaboration.”

Solutions shaping the future of our planet

This delegation represents France's impressive credentials in the sustainable waste management space. In 2021, France collected 41.3 million tonnes of household and similar waste, with 60% collected through selective sorting and recycling centres. The country aims to halve landfill waste by 2025 compared to 2010 levels, reduce household waste production by 30% by 2030, and eliminate single-use plastic packaging by 2040.

The inaugural programme

The three-day trade mission will include:

Day 1 in London: Conferences, meetings with buyers, & networking

Day 2 at ESS Expo: Presenting innovations and connecting with the UK ecosystem

Day 3: A visit to Veolia's Southwark sorting centre
