Claire Dickinson

Director, Geo-Environmental Matters Ltd

Bringing over 30 years of experience in UK land development, Claire is a contaminated land specialist (Registered SiLC) with a background in geotechnical engineering, specialising in ground risk management advice. She combines running her consultancy (Geo-Environmental Matters Ltd) with part-time lecturing at the University of Portsmouth. Formerly the UK Practice Area Lead and part of the EMEA Remediation Services Technical Team for AECOM. Over the last 19 year she has chaired over 10 CIRIA project steering groups for their contaminated land programme and including the update of the popular Environmental Good Practice Guide and newly published CIRIA C809 Report, ‘Sustainable Management of Surplus Soil and Aggregates from Construction’. She is also part of the research team producing an online resource for the CIRIA’s Soil Community of Practice, and a co-author of the papers arising from the CIRIA and SiLC’s February 2024 Stakeholder Workshop on the future policy and regulation of excavated materials in England and Wales. Claire is a member of the SiLC Professional and Technical Panel and jointly leads their Climate Change and Sustainability Sub-group.
