Greg Logelain
Waste Strategy & Resource Management Expertise:
Greg is a chartered waste manager with over a decade of experience in the environmental consultancy sector, specialising in waste strategy and resource management as part of waste operations and infrastructure development. He has provided multiple waste market assessments and future feedstock analyses for high-profile national infrastructure projects in the UK, European, MENA, and, Global markets.
Technical Leadership in Waste Legislation:
Greg's technical background in waste comes from his work with the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM), where he was responsible for several Special Interest Groups and supported key legislative changes, including the Waste Classification Technical Guidance (WM3), European Waste Catalogue (EWC) codes, and other Government consultations. He has also published guidance material on topics such as healthcare waste management.
Innovative Data Modeling for National Projects:
Greg has gained experience working on large-scale national infrastructure projects, developing waste strategy and resource management plans (KSA Diriyah, STDC, HEP, and others). These projects utilised innovative data models to map supply and demand scenarios for clients with diverse feedstock considerations, including competition factors between alternative treatment facilities (e.g., EfW vs. Recycling availability & pricing impacts).
Global EfW Infrastructure Analysis & Local Authority Support:
In a global analysis project, Greg developed a worldwide current and future EfW infrastructure model with geographical outputs, mapping over 4000 individual facilities. He has also worked with local authorities, conducting audits of local council waste service review surveys.
Commercial Due Diligence in the Waste Industry:
Greg has managed numerous large Commercial Due Diligence projects for clients reviewing services across the waste and resource industry. Notably, he was part of the independent review process for the acquisition of Biffa.
Pioneering Sustainable Waste Solutions:
Greg is supporting the development of the Waste-to-X (WtX) landscape. He recently led a comprehensive UK market study for a leading waste-plastics-to-fuel technology company, identifying resource opportunities and accounting for regulatory drivers, including the UK & EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). His experience also extends to advising energy companies on WtX investments, providing insights into market dynamics, innovative technologies, and potential environmental competitiveness. Greg's work in this field underscores his commitment to pioneering sustainable waste solutions that drive resource recovery and contribute to a circular economy.
