Deputy Director Waste & Resources, Environment Agency

In the Environment Agency’s role as a regulator and advisor to Government, Steve is the strategic lead for Waste Regulation within the Environment and Business directorate. Alongside existing legislation, his team is currently implementing a high-profile programme of regulatory reforms as part of the UK’s transition towards net zero and a resource-efficient economy.

Steve joined the Environment Agency in 1995 as a chemist in the Hazardous Waste Management sector. For more than 28 years he has worked in heart of Environment and Business delivering regulation, leading Operations and Policy teams. When he is not keeping busy at work, he can generally be found running around after a young family and doing his level best to and get out amongst the West Pennie Moors where he lives just North of Manchester.
